Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and present valid proof of vaccinated status, in order to be eligible for hire with the County of Northampton. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two (2) weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines), or two (2) weeks after a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine). The County of Northampton will follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines with regard to booster(s) and when individuals are considered fully vaccinated.

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe or Northampton counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

VIEW JOBS 6/27/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-09-25T00:00 The Northampton County Mental Health Division is seeking a qualified County Caseworker to provide a full range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support services that aid the recovery vision by promoting hope for the future, self-determination and choice, as well as active successful participation in the community. You will make a real difference every day by providing care and hope to the most vulnerable populations in Northampton County.  We need you - apply today!The Spanish speaking caseworker will be assigned duties to assist consumers to be successful in the community.  This may include completing initial intake assessments to determine the consumer needs; obtaining and utilizing healthcare services; obtaining and maintaining access to medications; as well as locating permanent housing.  Caseworkers also assist with obtaining and renewing medical benefits if necessary.  Housing is another duty that the caseworker may assist the consumer in obtaining.  This will also include identifying needs and the services to support the consumer.  Consumers may need assistance obtaining basic necessities for their new living arrangement as well as help with budgeting. In addition, the caseworker may also assist with referrals to mental health and/or other specialty services; life skills such as services to assist with socialization, vocational training and/or employment.   Caseworkers are responsible for forming relationships with community organizations that can assist consumers with such things as food, clothing, shelter, and/or utility assistance.  Along with referrals, the caseworker is responsible for completing authorizations as needed.  The caseworker will also monitor children's respite as well as all MH CASSP cases. Caseworkers in mental health are also responsible for the ongoing monitoring of the consumers on their caseloads through phone calls and home visits.  The outreach caseworker will also serve as a liaison to the Student Assistance Program.  The worker will serve as an advocate for the consumers to promote an understanding of mental illness as well as services available in Northampton County.  All duties require appropriate documentation as per state and county regulations.  At all times, confidentiality must be maintained.   Other duties will be assigned as needed and required.
