Summary

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Currency Manufacturing DCF. As a Counter Exchanger Checker Processor, you will perform semi-skilled and labor duties in support of currency and special products production, processing and delivery in various divisions of the office.

Duties

  • The BEP is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. If selected, you may be sent and/or reassigned to the new Beltsville facility. By applying to this position, you understand this potential requirement.

As a Counter Exchanger Checker Processor, you will:

  • Utilize physical inventory count to ensure accountability of sheets, notes or securities.

  • Physically examine products for imperfections and remove or replace in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and/or other guidance documents applicable to the specified area.

  • Verify counts using electronic sheet and note counters as well as conduct physical inventory counts.

  • Issue perfect sheets to the presspersons on loose receipt at the beginning of shift and during the shift; respond to requests by Presspersons to exchange mutilated sheets with replacement stock.

  • Utilize forklifts to stage skids for processing through the cash-pak shrinking operation.

Physical Requirements:

The work requires:

  • Ability to visually detect errors;

  • Long periods of standing and sitting in one location;

  • Frequent lifting with hand, arms, fingers, wrists, and at times using back and legs when lifting loads weighing approximately 70 pounds, with the assistance of equipment or a partner and 50lbs individually, on and off of conveyer equipment or when lifting loads weighing approximately 800 pounds with trucks, manual or electric.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

You must meet the screen-out element, The Ability to do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen Out), normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions.

To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have: the ability to perform common Counter Exchanger Checker Processor duties. Utilize a Stand-Up Forklift or electric pallet jacks to move product loads to designated areas in a manufacturing environment. Be fully accountable for the physical inventory and data entry in one area of a manufacturing environment. Applicants must perform such tasks, and others, without more than normal supervision.

In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified. Your application will be evaluated in the following areas:

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
