Job Description:
SUMMARY
Performs a full range of academic, personal, career, and transfer counseling activities with diverse student populations. These include but are not limited to, assisting college students, (which may include College Credit Plus students), in developing academic and career goals; creating and developing educational academic plans to degree/certificate completion and/or transfer; identifying and developing strategies and skills for adapting to the educational environment, and providing academic counseling to students in academic curriculum areas. Assists with New Student Orientations by providing individual academic counseling appointments and New Student Orientation presentations. May provide crisis intervention. May teach General Studies courses and student success workshops as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
When teaching credit and non-credit courses:
Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes
Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations
Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlines
Be available to students for coaching
Periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate-level course hours in Counseling or Social Work
One year of higher education experience in counseling as well as two semesters of teaching which may or may not occur concurrently
Licensed/Licensed-Eligible from the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board
