Counselor

Job Summary

Assumes responsibility for providing confidential assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic services, including individual and group counseling/psychotherapy and crisis intervention services. Develops individual client therapy plans. Designs and conducts developmental and outreach activities that will facilitate student growth. Focuses on providing outreach and counseling services to meet the needs of students. If required by licensure, works under the supervision of a licensed clinician. If commiserate with licensure level, participates in the supervision of interns and practicum students. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field.

• Experience as a counselor to adults and/or young adults.

• Licensure as a social worker, counselor, or marriage and family therapist in Ohio. OR licensed out of state with eligibility for licensure in Ohio.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with a college student population or working in a university/college counseling center. Experience and interest in working with diverse clients.

• Experience with short-term therapy and outreach or prevention work.

• Experience in crisis response or urgent appointments.

• Ability to collaborate collegially with a multidisciplinary staff, both within the Counseling Center and throughout the CSU community.

• Ability to effectively utilize an electronic medical records system.
