Job Description:

CWC counselors support the academic success and retention of students by providing support with mental health and developmental concerns through short term counseling, referrals to community resources, crisis management, and consultation to the Augsburg Community. This position is benefits-eligible, holds a 0.75 FTE, and works 40 hours per week for nine (9) months during the academic year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Short term mental health counseling and crisis intervention.

  • Referral guidance.

  • Client documentation.

  • Consultative services to faculty, staff and parents.

  • Staff meetings and case consultations.

  • Participation in campus and community events and outreach efforts related to mental health and wellness.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work or marriage and family therapy required.

  • Current MN license in field of practice required.

  • Strong clinical multicultural competencies and experience working with a diverse community in mental health services required.

  • Demonstrated experience counseling male-identified clients, including knowledge of issues relevant to male-identified individuals.

  • Knowledge of issues relevant to college-student populations.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as ability to work independently required.

  • Demonstrated organizational abilities, especially ability to maintain client records required.

  • Desire to work in an academic setting and support the mission of the University.

  • One year or more of professional experience with higher education experience preferred.

  • Ability to be attentive to details, be accurate, be precise.

  • Ability to lead/teach and mentor others.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; and work independently with little supervision.

  • Ability to reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality; and demonstrate patience, understanding.

  • Ability to show initiative; organize workflow; manage one or more projects; and handle frequent interruptions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year or more of professional experience with higher education experience preferred.

  • Independent license preferred.

Encourage informed decision-making regarding health care choices. * Provide travel health counseling and services for business travelers. * Participate in the management and administration of the occupational health services environment. Participate in the development and implementation of Health Services programs and plans. * Provide clinical and other testing according to established standards and procedures. * Participate or lead a variety of projects, teams and focal point roles locally or globally that develop and implement Health Services operating discipline, goals, new programs or research related to important DAS occupational or environmental health concerns. * Assure Health Services programs are understood and implemented at associated, small sites where local medical providers typically provide Medical services. * Provide leadership and technical support for site health promotion coordination and implementation.
