THE POSITION The Counselor

  • Behavior Manager will promote early identification and intervention of and for students with behavioral, social, and/or emotional problems providing opportunities for ameliorative intervention; and recommend procedures for dealing with those effects on a student's learning and behavior. The Counselor

  • Behavior Manager's primary goal is to increase attendance and decrease suspensions school-wide, improving and maintaining a safe climate and culture conducive to learning. This position will work primarily within LACOE schools serving at-promise youth who may be incarcerated, expelled, homeless, foster, and suffer from chronic absenteeism, below grade level reading and math, and/or are credit deficient.

Experience: • Three years of experience required in the field of social work or school counseling working with school-age children. • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification preferred. • Experience and training in Dialectical Behavior Training (DBT) preferred. • Teaching experience in school settings with at-promise youth, systems-involved preferred. • Work experience in juvenile court or county community school settings preferred. Education: A Master's degree in social work or counseling from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (All applicants must attach credential with document number to their application.

Please do not attach the certificate copy of your Credential. See below for step-by step instructions.): • Must hold a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS) in school counseling.
