Counselors serve students individually through walk-in sessions, appointments, advising desk, telephone calls, email and other distance-advising tools. As members of a collaborative college community, Counselors are active on college committees, serve as departmental liaisons, and are fully integrated with the Student Services team. Counselors function as academic advisors, teachers, mental health counselors, career counselors, consultants, student advocates and leaders on campus.
Master's degree in counseling or related field required
Knowledge of student development as it relates to a comprehensive community college
Two or more years of counseling experience required
One to two years of education or career counseling experience
Community college experience in Student Services
