Candidates will be considered that have a provisionary license and are seeking to accrue hours towards professional licensure. Employment will allow tracking and documenting hours under the guidance of a credentialed professional in the field adhering to reporting protocols towards the licensure process. LPC or LCSW is to be secured within 3 years from the date of hire.
This position provides counseling services to OCC and Kean Ocean students, and displaced homemaker program clients. The incumbent will participate in the overall operation and strategic mission of the department providing development, implementation, coordination, evaluation and assessment of functions, programs, services and strategic plans.

Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months
1.Conducts holistic counseling in one-on-one and group settings; provides personal, developmental, academic, and life skills counseling to OCC and Kean Ocean students with an emphasis on specific populations including but not limited to students who are members of underserved populations, academically at risk, disabled, veterans, adult or returning learners, displaced homemakers, LGBTQIA+.
2.Manages interventions for emotional and psychological distress situations, and provides follow up counseling services; links students with community and social services resources as appropriate. Conduct case management with students.
3.Designs, coordinates, implements, and evaluates services and programs for academically at-risk students, including intervention programs, coaching and counseling; participates in retention and enrollment management efforts and activities.
4.Participates in the student assessment process for the Counseling Center.
5.Provides consultative services to faculty and staff regarding student behavior and student situations.
6.Serves on or provides services to the CARE Team and responds to CARE reports.
7.Maintains relationships with appropriate Kean Ocean and Kean Union staff; works collaboratively with other college departments and external community and social agencies to secure comprehensive services, programs and seminars for the college community.
8.Develops, coordinates and/or conducts seminars/workshops on topics related to academic success, personal and professional development, psycho-education, and life skills.
9.Collaborates with staff on grant funded projects and services.

Related projects and duties as assigned.
1.Master's Degree in Counseling, or appropriate academic disciples (psychology, social work, or human services) which prepares specifically for counseling positions.
2.Two or more years' experience in counseling, providing direct counseling services to students and/or clients and demonstrated experience presenting to groups.
3.Demonstrated skills to respond to students or clients in high emotional distress or psychological crisis; knowledge of appropriate processes.
4.Possession of LAC, LSW or other related licensure as a professional counselor, social worker or psychologist in New Jersey; with the understanding that an LPC or LCSW is to be secured within 3 years from the date of hire.
5.Demonstrated cultural competence and understanding of the diverse populations in academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
6.Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and database or other technology related to this position; ability to create detailed documents and reports.
1.Counseling in a college or community college environment.
2.Possession of New Jersey LPC or LCSW license.
3.Experience working with addiction and recovery issues.
4. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
