Role Summary:

This role works closely with a team of Treasury lawyers globally, the Treasury derivatives operations team and the intercompany funding team, among others, to provide strategic legal advice on transactions, legal & regulatory developments and legal aspects of market infrastructure changes, among other matters.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage regulatory aspects of the derivatives space, keeping abreast of developments and advising senior leadership

  • Partnering with the derivatives operations and compliance teams, develop and implement solutions in response to new legal and/or regulatory requirements

  • Develop and implement appropriate derivatives law training, in conjunction with outside counsel, for other members of the team

  • Draft and review intercompany funding documents

  • Partnering with the inter-company funding team, develop and implement templates and solutions in response to new transactions structures or jurisdictions

  • Assist on global transactions, including BD transactions

  • Assist Treasury legal colleagues on their matters & support Treasury operations teams, including banking, trade finance and cash management

  • Manage outside counsel and outside counsel fees, looking to bring work in house wherever practical, consistent with overall goal to reduce outside legal costs


  • Bachelor's Degree plus J.D., or equivalent and US bar admission plus at least 6 years of experience in combination of private practice and major financial institution.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • MUST submit application for employment through COS (internal candidates) or (external candidates) to be considered for this position.
  • MUST be at least 18 years of age.
  • MUST be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing and background check.

Desired Characteristics:

Proven expertise advising on the implementation of new regulations and a demonstrated ability to work cross functionally

Prior experience advising on SEC or CFTC rules and interpretations in a financial services setting

Established track record of implementing new legal or compliance processes and procedures, including coordinating among many stakeholders

Proven ability to independently lead new initiatives and drive completion

Team player, willing to pivot as priorities change and pick up new matters
