About the Role

The Culinary Service Manager (CSM) role will help to create and maintain an exceptional 'Front of House' (FOH) department rooted in hospitality and Thumbtack company values. The CSM will have a significant impact on the culture and identity of the culinary team. This position will maintain high service standards of all FOH spaces and will oversee signage, flow, and inventory of all FOH snacks and beverages. The CSM will ensure that dining spaces are stocked, clean, safe, and maintained while providing exceptional service and attention to detail. This position is responsible for developing the TACKitchen visual brand within the office by creating signage and selecting design and service elements. This position is a management role and includes the direct supervision of FOH and dish team members. Culinary Service Manager Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of performance for all FOH team members

  • Point of contact with facilities manager and service vendors

  • Ensure allergens are correctly communicated to employees

  • Work with Events and Learning and Development teams on planning and execution of on-site events

  • Directly manage all Dish and FOH team members

  • Conduct regularly scheduled 1:1s with all direct reports

  • Provide technology support for direct reports including, but not limited to, assistance with digital time card, email, reimbursement, and feedback tools as needed

  • Participate in management and leadership develop opportunities such as BetterUp and/or TT University Management Training

  • Indirectly manage and oversee all janitorial, dish, or custodial employees

  • Lead by example by demonstrating a strong sense of urgency, high attention to detail, and excellent communication skills

  • Oversee physical design of service elements including:

  • Tea and coffee bars

  • Silverware and napkin areas

  • Bussing carts

  • Cereal and snack areas

  • Oversee all FOH print and signage design elements

  • Manage TACKitchen labeling system in Airtable including dishes and ingredients databases, meal and snack print templates, etc.

  • Manage company-wide communications on behalf of TACKitchen including creating, editing, and posting weekly Kitchen Updates and managing TACKitchen Wiki page

  • Sync with Workplace Experience (WPX) and kitchen facilities teams about facilities updates and as necessary for repairs and maintenance

  • Manage daily/weekly/monthly equipment maintenance schedule and vendor relations for coffee, soda, water, and keg equipment

  • Manage weekly inventory and ordering of all FOH offerings and supplies including coffee, tea, beer, wine, consumables, compostables, bulk snacks, and beverages

  • Manage weekly smallwares inventory and ordering to ensure we have enough smallwares at all times

Supervise FOH role to ensure all of the following responsibilities are successfully executed and jump in to help as necessary:

  • Help create internal hospitality standards for our Culinary Department

  • Maintain clean and well stocked FOH facilities

  • Reinforce strong company culture through points of service and employee experience

  • Stock beverages, snacks, fruit, coffee, condiments, cereals, etc.

  • Work closely with Craft Specialist to ensure pars and freshness of house-made snacks and beverages

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events

  • Clean and restock dining spaces and pantries

  • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of all FOH equipment and smallwares

  • Create daily menu signage using Airtable. Communicate food offerings and allergens to employees

  • Ensure all craft, beverage, and toast offerings are accurately and aesthetically labeled

  • Ensure all FOH front- and back-stock is properly stored and labeled and that allergens are listed correctly

  • Help employees and guests: answer questions, and fulfill requests

  • Facilitate event and catering logistics, communications, and implementation


  • 2+ years in a supervisory or assistant GM/FOH role. Relevant experience always considered.

  • Exceptional teamwork, strong work ethic and communication skills, and sense of personal accountability are all required to be successful in this role

  • Well-organized, thorough, detail-oriented, and communicative

  • Versed in design programs such as Sketch, Illustrator, and/or inDesign

  • Commitment to high quality service, food, and beverage standards

  • Excellent attendance and punctuality is required with schedule flexibility determined by business needs

  • Handy skills preferred

  • In-depth understanding of professional customer service and the hospitality industry

  • Enthusiastic to host all types of people

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures (ServSafe Manager Certification)

  • Behaves professionally and can be flexible in a changing environment
