What you will be doing

Albertsons is seeking a motivated and solutions-oriented attorney to join the Privacy Office.

Joining the Privacy Office is an excellent opportunity to put your passion into practice and immediately contribute to a leading food and drug retailer. As Privacy Counsel and a member of the Legal team at a dynamic company, you'll have ample opportunity to work on a variety of unique privacy matters and other legal issues while partnering with teams across the company.

Main responsibilities

• Provide privacy guidance to our strategic partners (e.g., retail media, digital, technology, marketing, etc.) to minimize legal risks, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and advance business goals.

• Interpret and apply a risk-based assessment of state and federal privacy laws and their impact on our services, offerings, projects, products, and initiatives.

• Keep up with the changing privacy and technological landscape, and enforcement trends.

• Drive awareness on data privacy and security issues by developing training, policies, guidelines, resources, and thought leadership as needed for internal audiences.

• Build and enhance the privacy team's processes, efficiencies, compliance framework, and best practices.

• Support contract negotiations to review data privacy contractual provisions such as data processing agreements, data transfer agreements, and business associate agreements.

• Conduct legal research on privacy topics as needed to support the Privacy Office.

What we are searching for

• 2-4 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department focusing on data privacy.

• Knowledge and understanding of privacy laws, regulations, and other guidance and standards, with a passion for data privacy and staying current on new developments.

• Ability to engage with business, product, and engineering teams on a variety of privacy-related topics. Comfort with technology and technical terms is a plus.

• Experience drafting and negotiating privacy related agreements.

• Strong research skills with proven ability to effectively communicate privacy advice (written and verbal) by breaking down complex concepts into simple terms.

• Self-starter and ability to work independently on complex matters with little supervision to their successful conclusion.

• JD and bar membership in good standing to at least one US state bar.
