This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to work with (mainly) our secondary transition team. The

appropriate candidate will work closely with special education staff, under the supervision of an OTR, to

address the transition needs of students age 14 -22 to prepare students for life beyond high school.

Responsibilities:

Provide instructional supports and strategies for special education students age 14 - 22

according to IDEA requirements.

Provide supports and services in areas of independent living skills, work readiness/job training

and community access/integration and assistive technology (AT), in addition to traditional

supports for school participation.

Collaboration with other team members including families and community agencies to provide

services and supports for students with disabilities transitioning to post-secondary life.

Maintain AT resources, collaborate with teachers and OTR on student AT needs, work with

students to integrate use of AT into the natural routines of the day.

Attend IEP meetings/staffing and other meetings as requested

Support teachers in developing & implementing supports

Complete needed paper work and job related functions in a timely manner

Schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events

Gather, collate and/or classify data; generate reports and consider a wide variety of factors

Utilize a variety of job-related equipment and assistive technology

Routinely attended district and school based meetings, training and professional development

Compliance with existing laws and professional ethics

Maintenance of appropriate continuing education credits, as well as state licensure

Other duties as requested by Coordinator of Related Services, Pupil Personnel Director, or

Building Principal

Travel to more than one work location in the course of the day may be required

Some lifting required up to 50 lbs.

Ability to physically assist students with physical and other disabilities

May be required to respond quickly to students, which may require running

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Associates degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

2.Certification achieved by passing the national certification board examination.

3.Licensed or eligible for licensure by the State of Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions

Two or more years of experience working in a public school setting is preferred.
