The next big thing in data is you!

Ever wonder how the most complex products, at one of the largest memory companies, gets a cost? Think about the complexities thousands of resources (operators, engineers, facilities) and hundreds of materials go into making a HDD, SSD, or memory card (SD, uSD, USB). Ever wonder how to manage such a large set of cost data?

Think about the challenges the data is owned by many different teams, spread all over the world, in a format that is conducive to what they need and changing all the time. Ever wonder how you can directly influence the bottom line? Simplify the complexities, analyze the data, and influence a broad network. If this ignites your interest we should talk!

Join Western Digital as a Cost Planning Analyst and you will be responsible for understanding and optimizing product costs, supporting operations and the business units. You will gain expertise into how all products in the company are built and tested, how our supply chain works, how the products are developed and qualified, and how this transpires in the underlying enterprise systems. At the same time, you will develop an extensive network, as the role serves as a key interlock between the manufacturing sites, global ops and engineering teams, BU finance teams and corporate FP&A.

  • Support the monthly near term forecast, and quarterly strategic forecast for indirect product costs and manufacturing variances (OCOGS).

  • Support business partners with financial decision making return on investment, discounted cash flows, tradeoff analysis, cost reduction what-ifs, etc.

  • Suggest and implement process improvements to the forecast, the standard cost, and the numerous metrics and reports.

  • Conduct period end actual vs. forecast variance analysis, especially as it relates to manufacturing variances, reserves, and inventory capitalization.

  • Establish and maintain a pulse on the operational risks and opportunities to proactively report deviations to the forecast.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience (in ops, engineering, or finance), preferably in hard disk drives, semiconductors, or consumer electronic assembly.

  • Passion for knowledge and learning. An inquisitive mind seeking creative and efficient solutions.

  • High level of complex data analytics required. Must have robust command of Excel.

  • Excellent communication skills. Lead diverse audiences through your multifaceted analysis.
