Position Summary

Generally functions as the assigned cost engineer on a small or medium projects performing routine cost activities with minimal supervision. Has considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Provide input to the development of the Project Controls Plan

Facilitate cost trending meetings

  • Facilitate cost portion of weekly project team meetings

  • Input or update budget information, expenditure information, and forecasts into the cost reporting system(s)

  • Develop and process changes in the change management system. This may require interface with the client

  • Earned value analysis based on input from project leads. Recommend corrective actions

  • Prepare and analyze revenue and cost for home office and field services, included margin analysis

  • Prepare and assist Business Development in the preparation of Pro-services estimates for proposals

  • Recommend usage of contingency

  • BS or MS in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in design, procurement, and construction/field services processes and their inherent cost performance risks

  • Familiarity with the Operating Procedures for Project Controls

  • Knowledge and understanding of the scope of work for projects

  • Ability to effectively communicate with project management, other project leads, and the client

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills

Position Summary * Works under the direction of the Electrical and Controls Lead Engineer at the project level * Develops conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach in solving engineering tasks at hand * Produces detailed design calculations and sketches for all electrical work associated with the project. * Checks calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, and design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice * Assists the design/drafting group * Monitors drawings in progress, working with the Lead Designer, to ensure conformance to design calculations * Consults with Lead Designers and Engineers from other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project * Advises Lead Engineer concerning design or scope changes which initiate or require an Engineering Change Order * Support P&ID development; help maintain the P&ID's through the course of each project phase * Support development of the Instrument Index and I/O List; help maintain the Instrument Index and I/O List through the course of each project phase * Coordinate with process engineers to obtain process data for use in specifying tagged field instruments * Prepare less complex engineering calculations, specifications and requisition packages for inquiry and purchase * Prepare technical bid evaluations and make recommendations for purchase * Interface with suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications * Review vendor data to assure specifications and project requirements are met * Continues development of their technical knowledge, skills and potential * BS or MS in Electrical Engineering * 2 years of total experience required * Basic knowledge of the application, specification and installation of tagged field instruments * Fundamental understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques * Functional Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Other Essential Functions & Requirements: * Growing safety awareness * Good oral and written communication * Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility in a hot climate Jacobs Engineering Elkview WV
