Description: Responsible for consulting with Regional Decision Support Services in costing clinical utilization data and balancing cost data back to regional financial statements, analyzing costed utilization to ensure that costs are spread correctly, and auditing the costing process to ensure that overheads and direct costs are allocated correctly.
Reviews statistics used to allocate costs to ensure they are accurate when compared to utilization information. May be responsible for special analytical projects and research of data quality problems.
Ensures timeliness and accuracy of the monthly costing process, including managing and monitoring work to ensure that work is completed within defined service level agreements.
Obtains and loads clinical utilization data and work with regions to correct errors and ensure that utilization is mapped to the correct clinical department. Responsible for determining correct mapping of utilization to industry standard codes to get the relative value units. Responsible for allocating overhead costs to direct costs and auditing and analyzing results.
Reports on status of the costing process to regional and central management.
Analyzes and solves problems in utilization process, costing process, and supporting statistics and works with regional financial and clinical personnel to develop appropriate solutions.
Provides Decision Support System (DSS) data consulting services to regional financial and clinical personnel on mapping of costs and statistics in support of the costing and analysis process.
Responsible for providing consulting and expertise to other analysts in support of the costing process.
Provides back-up for regional cost analysts.
Minimum two (2) years of accounting or health care related financial experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or healthcare related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
Computer skills, including excellent knowledge of spreadsheets and a basic understanding of database applications and use of end-user tools such as AQT or MS Access and/or SQL to Access database tables and report writing, are required.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Healthcare costing application is preferred.
