Job Title: Cost Specialist

SUMMARY

This position will be predominantly responsible for the cost analysis of AEIL's products and processes, while driving efforts to reduce costs while also leading VA (value analysis) activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish cost targets and objectives for all new and existing products.

  • Generate Cost Estimations upon request.

  • Collect, summarize and analyze the detailed cost of products for all direct and indirect costs associated with the production of that specific product. Investigate deviations from the established cost targets.

  • Benchmark and compare internal costs to other production facilities, thereby identifying areas for cost reduction activities.

  • Responsible for continuously seeking ways to improve all aspects of the business to reduce expenses and improve profit.

  • Responsible for accumulating and reviewing all financial information to develop rates annually to assist in cost planning. Establish cost standards and analyze variations with actual.

  • Responsible for observing the manufacturing processes in order to gain a deeper understanding of labor & overhead costs for better support of "Noritsu" and "Base Unit" activities.

  • Implement procedures necessary to support and further develop product-level profit & loss reporting.

  • Participation in the monthly forecasting processes, along with the semi-annual budgeting activities.

  • Ability to present and explain results/findings to management.

  • Lead ongoing and continuous VA (value analysis) activities.

  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.

  • Will perform all other reasonably related tasks within the Company as required by Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED

  • Complete knowledge of manufacturing costing processes and related calculation methodologies.

  • Complete knowledge of functions and strategies in managing and controlling costs.

  • Knowledge of the Toyota Production System and JIT.

  • General physical ability.

  • Excellent written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Excellent cooperative personality.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Advanced computer skills, with strong aptitude with Microsoft Excel. Preferred experience with Oracle (or other equivalent ERP system).

  • Ability to understand, follow and implement posted work rules and company procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.

  • Two years of prior applicable experience in Cost strongly preferred, but not required.

  • Electronics experience desired.

  • Automotive experience desired.

  • Valid passport for required travel.

ORGANIZATIONAL (AND OUTSIDE) RELATIONSHIPS

  • All other AEIL Departments.

  • Cost Departments of other Aisin facilities, including sister plants, AWA/AHA, and Aisin Japan.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Open staff room with constant activity and interaction with cross-functional divisions, departments, and sections. Must be able to effectively change tasks at a moment's notice when the situation requires.

  • Some dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, solvents and occasional heavy lifting.

  • Occasional overnight travel.

  • Exposed to hazardous machinery and/or conditions that could result in injury up to and including a fatality if safety measures are not followed and adhered to.

  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils. The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing areas were under certain conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and safety glasses.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician), you will be primarily focused on new installations of our cable television and broadband services. You’ll drive a company van, go into customer homes, and represent Mediacom every day to our customers. You’ll also learn and perform a variety of duties including installation, changes of service, additional outlet installation, disconnection of service, payment collection, and any special requests customers may have regarding installation. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: * Makes customer drop installations (exterior and interior) complete from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in both single and multiple unit dwellings, including pre-wired units. * Performs new connects, reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects; adds outlets; installs and/or removes converters; performs upgrades and downgrades of service. * Analyzes picture quality and judges acceptability of picture delivered following installation of cable service. * Works with connectors, fasteners and wire and uses hand tools. * Uses customary CATV hand and power tools in performance of job duties. * Completes appropriate paperwork functions as prescribed by system management. * Reads signal levels through use of field strength meter; adds and subtracts levels in installation problems; installs connectors on different types of drop cable; maintains proper clearances; installs tap-off devices. * Climb poles with proper equipment (safety belt, safety strap and climbers), ladders or other structures as needed. Lifts and carries loads up to 75lbs (including line ladder); Works within limited confines, such as crawl spaces. * Properly uses, stores and maintains a VOM or DMM to check for “open” or “short” on line as well as AC and DC voltages. * Reads general drop system layouts from blueprints. * Inform customers of FCC Rules and Company policies as they pertain to customers. * Drives Company vehicles in performance of job duties; uses bucket truck. Proper vehicle upkeep and maintenance. * Generate additional company revenue through effective sales techniques and by offering information about product options, sales campaigns and promotions. * Performs other duties such as clean-up and salvage of wrecked out materials; provides general assistance to other employees as directed. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: * Entry level; 0 to 18 months experience. * High school diploma or GED required; trade school training preferred. * Valid driver’s license; satisfactory driving record required. * General level of mechanical and consumer devices knowledge. * Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers. * Ability to work in high or tight spaces. * Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights. * Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required.
