Cost Accounting Manager

Location: Morgantown, PA

How You Will Make an Impact?

The Cost Accounting Manager will support Manufacturing and Service profit centers and provide guidance with any financial issues or questions.

The Nuts and Bolts

  • Support Manufacturing and Service profit centers to include: prepare accurate and timely financial statements, create and promote new forward looking forecasting and analytical tools, support operations, service and support teams by providing guidance with any financial issues or questions

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to include: material cost, labor efficiency and productivity, inventory levels including turns, slow moving or obsolete inventory, and fabrication analysis

  • Continuously enhance reporting

  • Prepare accurate and timely weekly reporting to include: forecasting model, inventory estimate, cycle count and scrap

  • Prepare or review and approve all operations/service journal entries for month end close

  • Address any order costing issues; work with IT and operations/service to provide solutions on an as needed basis

  • Streamline processes and procedures to gain efficiencies, reduce waste

  • Revalue year-end inventory

  • Review and approve account reconciliations for accuracy, prepare journal entries as needed.

  • Add any returned units to the stock report ensuring accurate cost of each; correctly cost any stock sales

  • Lead the physical inventory audit process to include on-site audits and update and reconciliation to the ledger. Provide guidance to financial audit and materials teams as the physical inventory is being conducted

  • Back up for analyst positions

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Credentials

  • 5 years in a manufacturing accounting position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration

  • Ability to support a cross-functional plant management team

  • Proven ability to lead cost accounting team and function

  • Proven ability to prioritize objectives and duties

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Sound planning and organizational skills

  • High level of proficiency using PC spreadsheets (Excel preferred)

You Must Be Able to

Travel up to 15%

Working in an office environment in a seated position a minimum of eight hours per day is required.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
