Cost Accountant With At Least 3 Years Experience In Cost Accounting

Summary

This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual to leverage their product costing expertise and leadership skills as a Cost Accountant for the Accounting and Finance team, specifically serving the Miami facilities. The successful candidate will join a team committed to manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement and member development. The Cost Accountant collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw materials purchases, inventory, and labor. Candidate is responsible for activities of product costing, product manufacturing analysis and inventory valuations. Follow costings controls and procedures while maintaining the cost accounting system and reporting.

What You'll Do

Other duties may be assigned.

• Focus on cost and inventory financial analysis at the Miami locations

• Along with the other members of the Costing team, drive the enhancement of procedures and controls that ensure meaningful and reliable product costs and accurate inventories.

• Assist in developing cost standards for materials and labor annually.

• Perform month-end cost and inventory accounting close, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Assist with Budget preparation for standard costing by analyzing data from Scrap, PPV, and inventory transactions.

• Prepare inventory, manufacturing and purchase price variance reports and create journal entries as needed.

• Assist with audit requests (internal and external).

• Record Scrap Receivable entries and ensure Scrap proceeds are posted accurately.

• Record monthly entries for intransit material, partial shipments, and damaged material receivable.

• Research and resolve all general ledger and inventory discrepancies by coordinating with IT, warehouse, and other system owners.

• Prepare data for the annual standard costs update.

• Run reports for sales and material cost moves between divisions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• BA/BS in Accounting/ Finance

• 3 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.

• Excellent Excel skills required. Extensive experience with other Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) is a plus.

• 3 years of experience with an ERP system, D365 experience a plus

• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.

LANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Possess verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to support liaising with various functional levels.

• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

• Must be able to visually inspect inventory in the plants and warehouses.

• Frequent need to be in plant environment, where noise levels are high. Physically able to lift 40 to 60 lbs.

• Consistent daily attendance required to monitor inventory accuracy.

• Work in both air-conditioned office environment and non air-conditioned plant environment.

• Must be able to move freely and navigate through production floor.
