Cost Accountant

job summary:

Our client is currently seeking for an experienced Cost Accountant with manufacturing experience. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of cost and inventory accounting, analysis, and management reporting.

responsibilities:

  • Record actual job costs based upon materials supplier invoices, payroll labor reports and service provider billings.

  • Analyze factory overhead cost drivers and develop a methodology for allocating these costs to specific jobs.

  • Monitor actual versus absorbed factory overhead on a quarterly basis

  • Calculate and monitor standard costs for inventory valuation, project estimating and job costing purposes.

  • Review stock aging for determination of obsolete and/or excess inventory write off.

  • Perform month-end accounting activities such as closeout completed customer projects (jobs) by ensuring all material, labor and outside service costs are recorded, reconciling inventory and related reserve balances to the general ledger, and analyzing variances and cost of goods sold. Coordinate these activities with the Financial Accountant in support of timely issuance of financial statements.

qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting.

  • Must have at least three years of experience in an Inventory or Cost Accounting role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Must be proficient with Excel

  • Must have strong analytical and reasoning ability and good organizational skills.

Under general direction, is responsible for the operations of post-award grant administration and related accounting duties. The mission of Goodwill is to provide employment and job placement services for people with Disabilities and other special needs to maximize the quality of life for each individual served Responsibilities: Responsible for all functions related to Grant Invoicing & Accounts Receivable, including: * Set up and maintenance of client/customer files both physical and in QuickBooks * Ensure all required documentation is in place to support all amounts submitted for reimbursement under a grant * Entering invoices into QuickBooks to account for services rendered under Grants * Manage all client/customer questions in partnership with the Mission Services programs providing excellent customer service * Maintain reconciliation of invoices and payments submitted under Grants * Ensure governmental procurement processes are being followed as applicable * Support for Grants payroll processing; ensuring labor records accurately and completely capture time worked under Grants * Reporting and Analysis: * Regular review and internal auditing of grant processes to ensure compliance with governmental regulations or donor restrictions * Budget and Expense analysis * Perform grant reporting and close out functions as required by grantors; including reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices final reporting * Complete grants entry, review & reconciliation as well as prepare status reports. * Collaborate where needed in the development of reports to monitor and track Grant activity, budgets and outcomes * Other duties, projects and reporting as assigned by the Director of Accounting in support of the Finance Department, Grants, and Mission Services. * Ensure compliance with all Goodwill of Southern Nevada (GWSN) policies provided in the Team Member Goodwill Guidebook, Goodwill Industries International standards, and safety and security regulations. * Adhere to all GWSN Retail Manuals, handbooks, policies and procedures. Requirements: * 5+ years' experience in Grants Accounting; with knowledge of OMB Circular A-122, "Cost Principles for Non-Profit Organizations" * BSBA in Accounting * PC Computer skills with a strong knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook Email programs. * Ability to be part of our team and to communicate effectively with people at all levels. * Excellent organizational and customer services skills experience. * Must possess strong interpersonal skills through command of the English language in order to work with customers and Team Members. * Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics. * Requires a high level of adaptability and flexibility. * No record or disclosure of criminal conviction within 7 years from date of application that indicates a tendency towards theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
