Cost Accountant

Insero Talent Solutions has partnered with an industry leading manufacturing company in Wayne County to recruit a Cost Accountant.

Position Summary:

The Cost Accountant will report directly to the VP of Finance to supervise and manage cost control, reporting and information systems, managing and operating the standard cost, and variance reporting processes and systems.

Responsibilities:

• Collecting data for various sites in the company and roll up forecasts.
• Maintaining schedules of data for consolidated business information.
• Maintaining working knowledge of operations and cost systems and interacting with management to provide relevant cost analyses.
• Providing training, controls, and supervision in applying standards to daily production data.
• Auditing production reports, ensuring information is accurate, standards applied are consistent with standards use for product costing, and reported performance is complete, timely, and accurate.
• Coordinating research and preparation of annual manufacturing budgets.
• Monitoring the accuracy of individual standard product costs and assessing the impacts of deviations from standard in quoting process.
• Monitoring the accuracy and controls for inventories and corresponding valuation systems.
• Coordinating financial closing of the standard cost system, including updating standard costs.
• Building and maintaining a strong relationship and open communication with manufacturing management.
• Performing variance analysis and problem resolution.
• Maintaining operating and procedure manuals for cost systems.
• Additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• AAS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field; BS is preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, preferably 2 or more years in cost accounting and manufacturing experience.
• Strong understanding and ability to apply GAAP.
• Ability to effectively lead and develop cost accounting functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of the Company.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical ability.
• High level of initiative and strong work ethic.
• Proficient knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Products, including Access, Excel and Word.
