A prominent company in the Des Moines metro is seeking an efficient Cost Accountant to join their team. The Cost Accountant needs to be innovative, accurate in their accounting skills, and organized with reports they keep in their work. If this describes you, apply now! These are just some of the duties that our Cost Accountant will have:

  • Managing a cost based database

  • Review projects after completion to determine actual profitability

  • Perform data analysis on sort/route activity data to identify and report production/cost improvement opportunities

  • Prepare, maintain and distribute in a timely manner cost reports with great attention to accuracy and detail

  • Perform payroll data audits to measure accuracy, adherence to SOP and labor codes.

Requirements
? Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience ? Experience communicating and negotiating with other departments regarding business needs. ? Experience managing and prioritizing several tasks at the same time. ? Detail oriented. ? MS Office Suite ? Verbal and written communication skills. ? Experience with Cost Accounting and Cost Allocations in multi-line business ? Description POSITION SUMMARY: Purchasing Agent I is responsible for overall supply chain, vendor management and commodity management activities. This includes establishing and maintaining strategic sourcing relationships with emphasis on quality, delivery and cost. Responsibilities also include helping to define, develop and refine the purchasing system to meet the needs of internal and external customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Establishes and maintains supply system as assigned to ensure uninterrupted supply of required materials. * Makes independent decisions to place and maintain purchase orders to support ongoing material supply including long-term contracts. Determines appropriate amount of inventory to support production and manage risk. * Maintains open lines of communication with suppliers for prompt resolution of quality or delivery problems * Actively engages with operations team and provides a high level of responsiveness and communication as it pertains to supply chain needs * Monitors supplier performance, holds supplier accountable for performance levels. * Negotiates with suppliers to attain lowest possible total cost for purchased commodities. * Maintains supply system database for proper sourcing, procurement lead times, order quantities, prices and internal delivery requirements. * Understands and appropriately manages inventory for new product, transitioning and discontinued product lines * Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills by working independently and engaging appropriate cross functional teams to address vendor/part issues. * Takes part in Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers; works with the cross-functional team to establish agenda and compile performance data and analyze against established service level agreements * Assists with action plans, root cause and countermeasures for objectives. * Structure new items within the system as required supporting new product development. CRITICAL COMPETENCIES * Utilizes critical thinking to drive Problem Solving methods to solve difficult problems. * Listen and responds to customer needs * Uses breakthrough thinking to drive improvements and growth Job Requirements Qualifications * Associates Degree Required; BA/BS in Transportation/Logistics, Materials, Business, or other related field preferred. * Minimum of 1 year of experience in the purchasing field as a Buyer, Planner, Purchasing Specialist or Purchasing Agent (or closely related field. * In depth knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including MRP, inventory management, and planning systems. * Knowledge of supplier relationships, complex contract negotiations, demand flow philosophies, and legal issues involved with purchasing PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
