Saint Paul College seeks energetic and dedicated individuals to apply for two limited, full-time (1.0) Cosmetology Instructor position. The instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to instructional planning & curriculum development, teaching & learning, instructional facilitation, student evaluation, student records, student recruitment, retention and advising, student placement, classroom preparation and management, interpersonal relations, effective team member skills and duties, maintenance of professional skills and credentials.

Salary and benefits will be based on the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

  • This position will be housed out of the Woman's Federal Correctional Institute in Waseca, MN and will instruct the Vocational Cosmetology Training program to inmates.

  • Provide classroom instruction, evaluate and advise students.

  • Develop and/or revise curriculum.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge in the field through active participation in professional development organizations and events.

  • Promote diversity and cultural competency.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Federal Burearu of Prisons

Required Qualifications

  • Education Requirement

  • Diploma in cosmetology

  • Occupational Experience Requirement

  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a cosmetologist

  • Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

  • Professional Requirement

  • Cosmetology instructor license from the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology Examiners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with course construction

  • Experience using teaching/instructional methods

  • Experience with student outcomes assessments/evaluations

  • Understanding of the philosophy of community and technical college education

Other Requirements

  • Ability to pass a Federal Level Background Check for Access into the Correctional Facility

  • Drug Screenings as Required By FCI
