Jail Based Behavioral Health Services Program (JBBS)provides evidence-based behavioral health services in jails including medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders, individual group therapies, recovery supports, and other services, which are critical to supporting these populations. JBBS is not a grant funded program; rather, it is a legislatively mandated program with annual funding allocated to support the program. The goal of JBBS is to provide appropriate behavioral health services to incarcerated individuals while supporting continuity of care within the community after release from incarceration. Treatment services are provided to incarcerated individuals who self-refer and meet the program's eligibility requirements. Individuals who are admitted into JBBS are screened for substance use disorder, mental health symptoms, trauma, and traumatic brain injury. Individualized treatment plans are developed for clients to address their specific criminogenic needs including individual therapy; psycho-educational and process groups; psychiatric medication evaluation and management; and reentry case management services. JBBS participants are referred to community treatment agencies upon release for continued treatment and are eligible for JBBS reentry services for up to one year post release.
