THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Plumbing Trade Instructor for the Department of Corrections, you will provide classroom and on-the-job training for the vocational training of inmates in general plumbing maintenance. Your educational teaching will cover standard practices, methods, and procedures of the plumbing trade, including preventative plumbing maintenance and installation of new plumbing fixtures and equipment. Utilizing an appropriate trade curriculum, you will implement plans, inspire and train inmates in plumbing, and oversee inmates' progress. This position requires strong communication skills for tasks such as documenting training progress, directing work crews, and ensuring quality in completed assignments. Your unwavering dedication to teaching holds the power to profoundly influence inmate rehabilitation, facilitating their successful reentry into the community.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with paid lunch period.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
