DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will conduct food service work and provide instruction to inmates through on-the job vocational training. Instructing inmates in food preparation, production, service, and baking, as well as safe and sanitary operation of tools and equipment, cleaning, maintenance, and storage practices. In addition, you will review census and menu data to adjust recipes accordingly, and recycle leftover food into useable food products to reduce waste. Further duties include requisitioning, receiving, and storing food and supplies in assigned work areas, and ensuring that first-in, first-out procedures are strictly followed. Lastly, you will plan and review inmate work assignments, conduct performance evaluations of inmate workers, and maintain all inmate worker records. You must always maintain care, custody, and control over inmates during work assignments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week

• Work hours are 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Rotating days off and holidays

• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or

• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
