THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Laurel Highlands is seeking a highly motivated and experienced person who enjoys teaching to join our team as a Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Corrections Electronics Trade Instructor instructs inmates in a variety of electronics, which includes general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and installation of new electronic fixtures and equipment. You will be responsible for maintaining a working knowledge and ability concerning electronic components of cell doors and sliders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (40-hour work week)

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

  • Salary: Candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425 (before taxes)

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the testing and repair of electronic equipment; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
