Correctional Training Coordinator position is based at the Office of Staff Development and Training (OSDT) Central Office in Apex, North Carolina and will oversee the Curriculum section of OSDT reporting to the OSDT Deputy Director of Administrations.

This position manages the administration of certification examination on behalf of the state of North Carolina and prepares comprehensive reports for executive review and Federal Audit in accordance with Title V of Federal Code and renders formal advisory consultation to trainers regarding standards compliance and expectations. This position may serve as the Criminal Justice School Director and speak on behalf of the agency in dialogue with the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards commission.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum planning processes and for managing the design, development, assessment, and evaluation of In-Service training in accordance with standards established by law, administrative code, policy, training methodologies and testing archives indefinitely, in a manner that facilitates quick retrieval for review and distribution in both hard copy and digital formats

  • Manages the design and development of training

  • Monitors the delivery of training through on-site observation and study of documents and evaluation

  • Assesses the quality of training against established standards

  • Collects, synthesizes, and analyzes data regarding training delivery and compliance with NCDAC policy and to CJ Standards Commission

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Possession of current General Instructor Certification

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, and development, instructional delivery, administrative functions and personnel management practices

Management Preferences:

  • Demonstrated ability to research and develop publication quality training materials for correction personnel

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience directly related to instruction and training, including two years in an administrative or coordinative capacity (OR) an equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge.

The Office of Staff Development and Training (OSDT) provides training for employees across the Department of Adult Corrections. OSDT has a staff of 91 instructors and support personnel who deliver basic training to correction and probation officers. The office also leads firearms training, leadership education programs, general instructor training, and other specialized classes and manages the delivery of the annual in-service training for more than 16,000 certified employees.
