Description of Work

Reporting to the Program Director I, this position will function in the program section at a male correctional facility. The development and management of programs which must satisfy the goals of offender rehabilitation by providing educational, vocational, recreational, religious, group therapy, and self-help opportunities. Position responsibilities also include:

  • Responsible for supervising Correctional Case Managers and ensuring that programs meet the necessary goals by constant evaluation and observation.

  • Will train, observe, evaluate and supervise staff in their duties.

  • Complete, review and maintain employee time, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms.

  • Primary purpose of this position is to develop, implement, coordinate and supervise programs associated with offenders treatment, re-entry, and/or behavior.

  • Assist supervisory staff with any special projects or assignments required by the operational demands of the Programs Section.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is GN08(Salary Range: $33,960 - $57,493). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About the Warren Correctional Institution :

Warren Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Manson, NC which houses approximately 725 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to one Correction Enterprises operation located off site: The Janitorial Product Plant manufactures a variety of cleaning products, soap, and plastic bags that are sold to various agencies/companies.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a Human Services or Criminal Justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in corrections or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
