The Position

Safety Specialists promote recognized safety practices among businesses covered by State and federal safety and health laws and regulations.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

Multiple positions are located in the Mechanical Compliance Section with the Department of Business and Industry, Division of Industrial Relations in Reno, NV. The incumbent will perform jurisdictional inspections of elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, moving walks, personnel hoists, and related equipment, and complete required data entry.

Incumbent may be required to use their personal vehicle to conduct State business. Working shifts other than a normal shift may be required, including weekends. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or closely related curriculum and two years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, and adjustment of elevators, escalators, moving walks, lifts, hoists, amusement rides or similar equipment; OR Associate's degree in one of the mechanical technologies and three years of experience as described above; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Safety Representative, Elevator - DIR in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. One year of this experience must have involved the inspection of a variety of elevators.

Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Stand by/or call back may be required. For the Safety Supervisor and Safety Specialist, a Qualified Elevator Inspector's (QEI) Certificate is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria Travel up to 50% of the time may be required.

VIEW JOBS 10/1/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-12-30T00:00 The Position Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act. The Division of Public and Behavioral Health's, Lake's Crossing Center (LCC) a maximum-security forensic facility is recruiting for several Psychiatric Nurse 1 positions. This recruitment may be used to underfill a Psychiatric Nurse 2 position. Advancement to the next level may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. The mission of LCC is to provide forensic mental health services to mentally disordered offenders referred by the court system for evaluation of their competency to stand trial and/or be treated to restore competency. The Nursing Department at LCC provides professional psychiatric nursing care to clients while at the facility. Duties include but are not limited to dispensing medication, responding to medical emergencies, assessing medical needs, providing on going care, supervising and attending treatment groups, supervising clients in isolation, and at times assuming responsibility of nurse in charge. The environment requires a high level of security awareness as well as the physical stamina or ability to deal with maladaptive and aggressive clients. Work schedules include day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Incumbents will be working innovative schedules with overtime after 40 hours of work per week.
