About Plainfield Correctional Facility: s a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Plainfield Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Plainfield Correctional Facility is a medium security Correctional facility for adult males.

Plainfield Correctional Facility is located in Plainfield, Indiana. The Plainfield Correctional Facility offers resources and treatment geared toward mental health and substance use, along with multiple educational opportunities. The goal is that through treatment and rehabilitation geared toward everyone, the facility will help prepare incarcerated men to re-enter their community with more skills and confidence than when they arrived.

Role Overview: As a Correctional Lieutenant you will be responsible for the training in emergency preparedness and response of the various teams within the Indiana Department of Correction. You will be responsible for the management, supervision and safety of the facility, offenders, coworkers, and the general public.

In addition, you must apply the IDOC and facility rules, policies and procedures in a firm, fair and consistent manner to both offenders and subordinate staff. Work is diverse and varied. You must remain vigilant to all breaches of security and threats.

In the event of an emergency, effective leadership must be immediately exhibited. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: Lead assigned staff in maintaining the security and safety of offenders, buildings, and grounds.

Follow all policies and procedures related to facility's operations and emergency preparedness. Provide input to supervisors on staff assignments, performance, corrective actions, and specific security issues with potential resolutions. Assist in identifying offender treatment needs and support programs for treatment and rehabilitation which may include encouraging offenders to accept professional assistance and treatment from staff as needed.

Direct staff regarding the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility. Act as shift supervisor in the absence of the Captain or serve as the custody supervisor at smaller facilities. Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.

Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

High School Diploma or High School Equivalent. Three (3) years of custody experience in a correctional institution, law enforcement or military law enforcement, and one (1) year experience as a correctional supervisor or supervisory training in a related field. Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.

Must test negative on all drug screenings. Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and practices utilized in a correctional environment. Ability to work mandatory/voluntary overtime.

Ability to supervise and achieve desired results from offenders and staff. Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to apply as needed. Ability to communicate effectively, including giving clear directions.

Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow. Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets. You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:

Ability to successfully complete all mandatory training including the DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
