Correctional Case Manager

  • This job class is approved for a special entry rate of $34,220.00.*

This position will report to the Correctional Program Supervisor. Job responsibilities include:

  • Assess offender behavior and developing counseling strategies to achieve desired offender progress.

  • Answer offender questions, giving information about classification and sentencing status, corresponding with offender families, and providing supportive counseling.

  • Organize and direct activities of various rehabilitation programs provided for offender.

  • Coordinate community resources, plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.

  • Recommend to the offender classification committees on an inmate's program involvement or custody level change.

  • Work with inmates whose problems, needs and comprehension levels vary greatly.

  • Work in all sections of a Medium Custody prison facility which places them in constant contact with offenders.

  • Serve in a custody role during certain activities.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

The salary grade for this position is GN07(Salary Range: $32,703 - $51,904). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About the Caswell Correctional Center:

This position is located at Caswell Correctional Center, Blanch, North Carolina and is a medium custody male facility.

  • Documented knowledge of supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
