Salary Grade: GN07 Salary Range: $34,220 - $51,904

This position is located at Mountain View Correctional Institution in Avery County, NC, which houses Medium Custody Male Offenders.

This position may require you to work a late night during the week and work rotating weekend.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with

Employees in this class carry a caseload of inmates, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on inmate questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.

Employees also assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of inmates, such as inmate work assignments, work release, education, or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating.

Employees in this class plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Position provides professional nursing care/treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols, written policies and procedures, and the NC Board of Nursing scope of practice. Work includes conducting sick call/assessment, assisting the physician, carrying out orders, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care. Position responds to medical emergencies, monitors for communicable diseases, counsels for compliance with diet, medications and treatment; responds to inquiries, medical appointments, orders medications and supplies, and additional nursing care duties, as required. Position requires oversight of LPN and CNA I/II staff, as designated by management. Individuals may be required to work any shift, weekend, or holiday, with limited supervision, as assigned.
