Job Description

Community Solutions, Inc. is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an in-custody Correctional Case Manager at the Santa Barbara County Jail working Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm. You will be a part of a team helping to guide clients in their development and assist them to become a positive influence in the community. You will be preparing, planning and facilitating group and individual training sessions. You will also conduct client assessments and discharge planning as needed.

We have been delivering supervision, treatment, and comprehensive individualized services to help clients interact more effectively in their communities and become productive citizens. Using this plan we built the first ever halfway house in New England which has now been replicated and grown to almost 50 programs in 9 states. For over 50 years, CSI has been building upon its successful foundations and has been expanding its services to serve thousands of adults, youth, and families each year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Includes but are not limited too:

  • Conducting risk and needs assessment interview in order to develop an individual service plan that will appropriately meet the short and longer-term needs of the client.

  • Prepare, plan and facilitate group and individual training sessions.

  • Coordinating and supporting the efficiency of access to mental health support and services via internal jail resources and community-based services.

  • Acting as a conduit of risk and need information, treatment recommendations, and housing and to all units needing information about criminogenic risk and needs to assist in the reduction of client jail time as guided by best practices in the Criminal Justice systems.

  • Coordinating clients' participation in evidence-based, curriculum driven groups to educate and assist clients in recognizing and understanding the nature of the problem, to assess the need for treatment and services, and to evaluate progress

  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment and service plans based on results from validated risk and need assessment tools.

  • Working closely with Discharge Planning team to make referrals for County health services as needed, confers with probation, parole, and other law enforcement agencies to determine client's legal status and/or develop appropriate discharge plans.

  • Consulting with representatives from community treatment programs and recovery facilities to determine the appropriate placement of clients and to ensure continuity of care after release from custody.

  • Maintaining robust documentation in Case Management system, writing reports and summaries, making recommendations, and documenting client progress; completing forms and maintains client records and charts according to established procedures, guidelines, and legal requirements.

  • Participating in case conferences with other professionals to discuss client care and progress; attending departmental staff meetings to report on client safety, morale, and custody operations.

  • Attending conferences and/or meetings to keep abreast of current correctional practices, criminal and alcohol and drug issues, treatment modalities, and services available.


  • Bachelor's degree in a social science field and one year experience in social services or similar field. Education may be substituted with experience on a year for year basis.

  • One year experience in teaching, training and/or group facilitation preferred

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills desired.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

In this role, you'll provide support for an assigned group of clients by assisting them with all aspects of independent living, including the development of social, vocational, and effective symptom management skills. Specific needs include education in the areas of medication management, proper nutrition, cooking, shopping, budgeting, housecleaning and maintenance, and personal hygiene. You'll also assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising treatment goals and plans, and providing one-on-one support to clients as needed. Position Requirements: * Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Psychology or related field and at least 6 months of related experience; or high school diploma/GED and at least 5 years of related experience.
