Description of Work

This position will manage the start-up and operation of a new state of the art, high volume cutting and sewing manufacturing operation in Tabor City, North Carolina. This position must effectively plan, manage and direct the work operations of the Tabor City Sewing and Cutting Plant.

The employee is responsible for material receiving, material and product storage and movement, production scheduling, generation of products, quality control, safety, maintenance of facilities and equipment, packaging and shipping. The employee must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with Correction Enterprise administration staff, subordinate staff, inmates, vendors and customers regarding information necessary to complete assigned task. This position requires preparation of cost analysis for products & services and also fiscal & operational reports as required to effectively monitor operations.

The employee must develop and conduct training of subordinate staff and inmates in the safe and proper use of equipment and production methods utilized in manufacture of Correction Enterprises products and/or the performance of services. The employee must inspect products and/or services to determine their compliance with applicable production, regulatory and contractual standards and specifications. In addition, employee must comply with all applicable laws, policies and governmental regulations in hiring new employees, evaluating the performance of existing employees, disciplining existing employees and managing operations.

The employee is required to maintain all safety programs to include, but not limited to Hazardous Communication, Bloodborn Pathogen, Lockout/Tagout, and Emergency Right to Know.

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Must possess prior supervisory experience of unskilled labor.

  • Must demonstrate hands on training and supervision in a production based environment.

  • Must possess the skills to operate machinery.

  • Must be able to operate or learn to operate a sewing machine in order to train unskilled laborers.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.

This position is responsible for the supervision of inmates performing large-scale food production and food service operations at the facility. Supervise inmate workers engaged in a variety of activities in food production including cooking, baking, and serving food. Train inmates in institutional cooking, baking, and serving, while maintaining sanitation standards in all areas of the kitchen including proper food storage.
