New York Lifes primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.
Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the womens markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.
The Head of Financial Planning Programs will be responsible for setting the product strategy, strategic direction and positioning of financial planning services for New York Lifes Wealth Management group. New York Life through its wholly owned Registered Investment Adviser, Eagle Strategies, offers a comprehensive suite of wealth management tools that integrate insurance and investments.
Formulate and execute a product strategy to drive adoption, growth and ensure support of the financial planning segment of New York Lifes Wealth Management business
Develop and implement a best in class toolset that promotes a financial planning process for Wealth Management
Facilitate execution of digital enhancements and program customizations for specific programs, in close coordination with Technology, Sales and Senior Management at Eagle Strategies
Represent the business in strategic program engagements from initial requirements through go live
Coordinate closely with technology team members to appropriately prioritize essential platform upgrades, features and strategic initiatives
Stay close to industry trends and apply innovative concepts to the product as appropriate
Translate customer business needs into product strategy and technology requirements
Collaborate with users and stakeholders to identify and maintain plans that outline both short and long-term roadmaps
Develop products by analyzing market research; generating product requirements; facilitating specifications, production timetables, and time-integrated plans for product introduction
Partner with the Learning and Development team to develop a curriculum to drive adoption and growth of financial planning and enhance the overall IAR experience
Partner with the Financial Planning Consulting team to develop thought leadership and expertise around technical planning concepts and best practices; proactively assist the team in achieving their business development and planning objectives. Represent New York Life externally with industry and academic organizations
Effectively manage expansion of practice consistent with regulatory, legal and compliance standards
Manage all Financial Planning vendor relationships
Bachelors Degree (Finance, Financial Planning), CFP certification a plus
Series 7 and 66 (or 63 + 65) or ability to attain it over 6 months
Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience
Strong knowledge of the tools/products that support the execution of a financial planning offering (e.g. eMoney Advisor)
In depth experience within the wealth advisory business and possess extensive knowledge of financial planning industry best practices
Strong leadership skills with a reputation as a collaborative and collegial leader with a high degree of integrity
Ability to identify gaps in the current offering and provide solutions for future programs
Excellent communication skills and organizational awareness
Demonstrated success influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority
