Amerisure is recruiting for a Corporate Underwriting Consultant to join our team. This position can be remote from most locations in the U.S, or work hybrid if near a local office.

Position Summary:

Provides property and casualty underwriting consultation to Amerisure's field staff in support of corporate profitability and premium goals. Provide material support to Line of Business Underwriting managers in the implementation of underwriting appetite and guidelines for the organization. Support Line of Business Underwriting Managers with assigned projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate underwriting decisions on Amerisure's lines of business that exceed field authority.

  • Assist Underwriting Line of Business Managers in executing the overall strategy for assigned lines of business, including Amerisure's risk appetite, underwriting guidelines, opportunity identification, underwriting tools, objectives and key results, and book of business management.

  • Place facultative reinsurance as needed to protect the financial integrity of the company.

  • Support the Industry Practices, Product Development, and Risk Management teams in the creation of new product, form, and services.

  • Work with Industry Practices, Product Development, and field marketing staff to support the identification of business needs and manage underwriting controls, risk appetite, and tools to support organization growth and profit goals.

  • Support underwriting training programs as subject matter expert through development and execution of training.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work-related experience

  • 5 years commercial property and casualty underwriting, or 3 years internal Amerisure underwriting experience

  • Insuring construction or manufacturing exposures a plus

  • Preferably designated as or progressing towards designation of AU, CIC, ARM, CRM, or CPCU.

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively build relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.

  • Travel required up to 10%.
