Corporate Training Manager

Purpose:

Valkyrie Enterprises is hiring an experienced Corporate Training Manager to lead our learning and development strategy, manage its implementation and measure its impact. A successful candidate will be passionate about learning and excited about the prospect of leading by example. This position is based in our Virginia Beach corporate office and will report directly to the HR Director.

This position requires some flexibility of schedule and may occasionally work hours beyond a standard workweek.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Design: Create impactful learning experiences by designing engaging and interactive learning content, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training materials, videos, simulations, and assessments.

  • Graphic Design: Design training materials, including presentations, facilitator guides, and learner guides, aligned with learning objectives and organizational goals.

  • E-Learning Development: evaluate, recommend, and utilize authoring tools to create engaging e-learning courses, incorporating multimedia elements and interactivity.

  • Collaborate and Innovate: Partner with corporate and line management to assess current and future training needs, staying abreast of industry trends.

  • Set the Standards: Establish the processes, protocols, standards, and templates for Valkyrie University.

  • Leverage Modern Techniques: Use known adult learning principles and remain updated on new training methods and techniques.

  • Evaluate and Improve: Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills development and retention.

  • Maintain Excellence: Administer and maintain an updated curriculum database and training records in the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Manage Resources Wisely: Create and manage training budgets effectively.

  • Anticipate Needs: Identify future training needs and develop a curriculum to address those needs.

  • Support Transitions: Lead programs to assist employees with transitions due to technological changes, acquisitions, and mergers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in instructional design, education, or a related field.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a training and curriculum development role and 3 years leading a training function.

  • Portfolio of instructional design and content development examples.

  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and learning management systems (LMS).

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE), and e-learning best practices.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional relationship management and customer service skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

  • Must have knowledge of learning management systems, design applications, and web delivery tools.

  • Must have proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).

  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related business and communication tools.

  • Strategic and creative mindset.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications in curriculum development and training, preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel-up to 5-10%

Physical Requirements:

  • Work generally performed in an office setting but may require occasional visits to industrial or shipboard settings.

  • Will normally require minor lifting and carrying of boxes of supplies/equipment.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $115,000 per year
