We're hiring another Game Changer to join our Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety team as a Corporate Process Safety Specialist. In this role you will assist in the tactical execution of the Process Safety programs and compliance obligations at Grace and provide hands-on support to all Grace facilities worldwide by leading risk assessments, performing engineering calculations, and collaborating with sites to implement regulatory requirements, Grace internal standards, and Best Practices. Responsibilities include
Performing (PHA) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) per Grace internal standards and industry best practices. Recommend appropriate engineering controls and layers of protection for mitigation of hazardous events.
Aid sites in the implementation and execution of all Process Safety program elements
Assist in the interpretation and application of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices codes and standards including but not limited to API, ASME, ISA, IEC, NFPA, ATEX
Perform engineering calculations and modeling related to pressure relief system design, consequence analysis, safety instrumented system design, and inherently safer design & safeguard evaluation.
Assist site and corporate EHS staff in reporting, trending, and analysis of Process Safety Events per API 754 and Grace internal requirements. Use data to champion improvements in Process Safety practices and culture.
Serve as an internal auditor for PSM/RMP audits and other Process Safety audits & assessments at Grace facilities.
Participate in the development and delivery of Process Safety training for company employees.
Exhibit courageous leadership and take immediate action to call attention to potentially high-risk conditions to prevent potential catastrophic Process Safety incidents.
Stay current on Process Safety practices and changes to regulations by continuing education and participation in industry groups including CCPS, AFPM or ACC Regional Process Safety Networks, and others.
Must be able to travel up to 50% including international travel.
BS, in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years industry experience in chemical, petrochemical or refining experience with at least 1 year experience in Process Safety preferred.
Familiar with application of PHA methods, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Management of Change, Root Cause Analysis, Pressure Relief System Design, and/or Safety Instrumented Systems
Strong excel skills
Background in operations, process design, mechanical integrity, and/or Process Safety.
Function effectively within a team environment (leading and participating) with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Maintain excellent working relationships with Grace facilities and other corporate functions by demonstrating servant leadership.
High level of personal motivation, with a drive for ownership and accountability in performance of job responsibilities.
Commitment to the highest level of integrity and ethical standards.
Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization.
Professional Engineer license or Engineer-In-Training designation
