Carollo Engineers is a nationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Corporate Media and Communications Manager to join our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop internal and external communications strategies and execute communication activities to advance Carollo's business goals and corporate culture

  • Collaborate with leadership team to create and implement integrated communication campaigns that reinforce our business objectives

  • Work with company stakeholders to promote projects, accomplishments, and brand; support executives, including the Board of Directors, in communications efforts, both internally and externally

  • Manage executive communications (media training, presentation support, speech writing and delivery, individual communications coaching, etc.)

  • Oversee the integration of all communications channels: Owned (in-house media channels), Earned (news coverage generated by active editorial outreach), Paid (paid advertising or brand exposure), and Shared (maximizing content created for one channel by leveraging it across multiple channels)

  • Manage external website; collaborate with internal partners to identify, develop, produce and post content in support of the Brand

  • Collaborate with internal partners on effectively communicating key regulatory, public policy and industry-wide issues and activities. Serve as the senior communications coach to senior management to ensure consistent positioning message delivery

  • Work with external communications partners to develop, manage and execute Branding Strategy (image and issues advertising, editorial positioning, marketing communications collateral support, special publications, etc.)

  • Develop practice-specific communication materials, plans and strategies using best practices, innovative ideas and audience insight

  • Develop, manage, and execute a basic crisis communications strategy

  • Work with business leaders and subject matter experts across the company to create written responses for media inquiries

  • Support business leaders for media interviews through the development of key messages, FAQs and other materials

Required Skills

  • An interest and ability to effectively deliver in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality. Strong performance accountability orientation, both in terms of following through on commitments and deadlines

  • Strategic and analytical thinker, with problem-solving skills and the ability to look into the details while keeping in mind prevailing marketing strategy and vision

  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with external communications agency partner toward achieving common goals

  • Strong attention to detail in project management skills with excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner including building and sustaining relations with executives, media, community leaders and other key stakeholders

Required Experience

  • Minimum 12 years related experience in development and execution of Corporate Communications initiatives

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, as needed

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Masters degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, Marketing or closely related field

  • Experience in U.S. Municipal Market or Environmental Technologies Sector

JOB SUMMARY: This opportunity will allow an intern to gain firsthand experience and understanding of Public Relations and its role in a major organization. The intern will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day information distribution, media pitching, coverage tracking, media management, and assisting with events. They will also have the opportunity to shadow major event planning and implementation for events such as Halloween Horror Nights, major productions, and more. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES*: * Tracks media coverage and sentiment, provides weekly summary reports to management as needed. * Assists with implementing tactics and event planning, including broadcast shoots. * Participates in brainstorm sessions for major Public Relations tactics. * Develops various materials, including press releases and photo captions, etc. * Regularly updates media contact list(s) and monitors the Media and Public Relations email inboxes, answers media inquiries/requests in a timely manner. * Assists media wanting to experience Universal Orlando Resort (complimentary tickets, tours, etc.) and logs relevant information related to their visits. * Gathers materials for media giveaways. * Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. * Performs other duties as assigned. * This position requires a portfolio of work examples – if available, include a web address with your resume. EDUCATION: * In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above. * Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program. * Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred. * An official transcript may be required upon request. * Preferred majors include: Public Relations, Communications. EXPERIENCE: * Prior internship experience related to position is preferred. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Preferable skills for success in role includes but not limited to: * Excellent customer service skills and team player. * Ability to interact with media contacts in person and by phone and email. * Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. * Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization. * Exceptional attention to detail. * Superior written & verbal communication skills. * Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines. * Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams. * Consistent attendance.
