POSITION INFO:

The primary function of this position is to develop, manage, champion, and administer the corporate Environmental, Health and Safety programs for NIBCO INC. The EHS Manager will ensure that facility EHS systems are consistent with the company vision and drive safety excellence through training, coaching and cultural change.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively communicate company environmental, health and safety vision, expectations, strategies, and initiatives to assigned facilities.

  • Support the development of each site's EH&S vision; ensure facilities have prioritized actionable tasks, ensure effective metrics are in place to monitor performance.

  • Provide oversight to all facilities on environmental issues related to production waste and emissions, facility audits, and interaction with government agencies.

  • Lead efforts to improve safety awareness, while working to reduce injuries and associated costs.

  • Ensure that accidents, compliance deviations, and enforcement actions are fully investigated and make sure corrective actions/preventative measures are taken.

  • Serve as corporate EHS audit team member for annual EHS compliance audits / VPP-recertifications.

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of all safety, environmental, and regulatory records, reports, metrics, and documents.

  • Identify safety and environmental training needs and put resources in place to implement.

  • Ensure awareness of and compliance to OSHA (state and federal) regulations and industry best practices.

  • Develop and implement effective communication of safety and environmental issues across all sites.

  • Focus efforts on prevention and proactive approaches to safety and environmental issues.

  • Develop cooperative relationship with appropriate federal, state and local regulatory agencies. Ensure all regulatory reporting is in compliance.

  • Research, evaluate, and implement innovative approaches to processes and metrics.

  • Develops partnership with safety managers/coordinators at NIBCO locations, cross-company business units, as well as cross-functional business partnerships.

  • Coordinate First Responder training and certification and administer first aid as needed.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of combined 10 years' experience working in a manufacturing and corporate environment with a portion of this time having direct responsibility for developing and overseeing EH&S programs.

EDUCATION:

Undergraduate degree in occupational safety or a related field preferred. Can be substituted with appropriate level of professional experience. First Aid and CPR certification, OSHA 30 and 501 certifications and a third-party recognized Safety and Health Management certification (e.g., DNV Modern Safety Management) desired.

TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Critical thinking, EH&S program management, training and presentation, and OSHA workplace regulations administration. Ability to influence and coach others. Working knowledge of MS Office Tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Understanding of SDS and associated tracking tools.
