Danaher is looking for a senior Corporate Development professional to help build out in-organically its $17B business. With a strong deal reputation (15-20 deals/yr), $3B in annual cash flow, and material debt capacity, Danaher is poised to invest to win via further acquisitions, divestitures, equity investments, & JV's.

Location: San Diego, possibly

Washington, DC

Key objectives

  • Identify, cultivate, perform diligence, value, structure and negotiate deals across Danaher's platforms

  • Act as "deal quarterback" simultaneously advising and driving deal teams of subject matter experts from Corporate and operating companies to complete required work and reach investment recommendations

  • Monitor competitive landscape to identify and prioritize opportunities, including tracking public companies and interacting with investment bankers and other sources of deal opportunities

  • Manage cross-functional due diligence teams with a hands-on, team-oriented approach

  • Ensure effective management of post-closing deal terms and hand-off to integration teams


  • 5 years M&A transaction experience at top-tier corporation, PE firm, law firm or investment bank

  • BS or BA required. Top tier MBA or JD strongly preferred

  • Cross-functional experience in acct/finance, legal, ops, tax of M&A strongly preferred

  • International deal and/or venture capital experience viewed positively but not necessary

  • Experience in continuous improvement cultures or life sciences/diagnostics considered a plus

  • Have strong interpersonal skills and interact at multiple levels both inside and outside Danaher

  • Exemplify humility in leading teams to difficult goals, with an apolitical and non-bureaucratic approach

  • Be able to work in tactical and strategic realms, addressing commercial, financial risk and legal issues

  • Prioritize effectively in real time, multi-task on several projects and have strong organization skills

  • Be familiar with typical legal & economic deal terms and alternative approaches to risk allocation

  • Participate in spirited give-and-take discussions about his/her work and have a thick skin

  • Be willing and able to travel as required, including on short notice

The successful candidate will be able to conduct research, manage, identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities. Candidate must also be able to develop account strategies, establish customer contacts, support proposals process, and conduct marketing presentations. What your day will look like: * You'll proactively identify new business opportunities within the Defense/Army market and qualifies opportunities in alignment with MetroStar's practice areas and solutions to increase the firms revenues and profits. * You'll lead capture and leverage our customer relationship management (CRM) system to identify and communicate accurate and predictable metrics in pursuit with executive team. * You'll develop relationships with GS-13 and above level in Defense including but not limited to: DISA and OSD/OASD. * You'll be responsible for analyzing the market and market opportunities and recommends opportunities for pursuit and researches public domain materials to develop leads, contacts, and capture plans. * You'll actively participate in industry groups and conferences to represent and promote the company's capabilities. * You'll support new business proposals, and responses to requests for proposal (RFPs) as well as requests for information (RFIs). * You'll manage weekly reporting and analysis of the business development pipeline, including development of company business development presentations as required. * You'll develop and maintain working relationships with similar and/or complementary companies to include teaming and partnership discussions. * You'll develop a sales/account plan to provide market overview and sales/marketing strategy for achieving defense sales target and build appropriate pipelines to achieve organizational sales targets.
