Position Summary:The Corporate Curriculum and Instructional Designer is responsible for working with internal staff, local/regional business and organizational subject matter experts to assist in the development of WCC online curriculum, programs, classes, and/or workshops. While using proven principles and best practices, this position will coordinate fast-paced design & development projects that integrate multimedia, streaming content, animation/simulation and other related technologies.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop training that utilizes modern solution methodologies - scenario-based training, action mapping, microlearning, and mobile solutions.• Design, author, and edit online learning programs and learning aids.

Act as an online learning expert when determining, designing, and developing curriculum through research, customer input, and advanced functional/technical knowledge.• Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to deliver effective design, sequencing of instruction, use of assessments, and design of course materials and activities for interactive and engaging technology-enabled learning environments.• Conduct on-going systematic reviews and streamline course/class development processes accordingly.• Review training design decisions to ensure that activities, and resources are appropriately aligned with learning goals and desired outcomes.• Remain current with technology tools and trends in distance learning and higher education including learning and instructional design theory. Identify and creatively incorporate technology and social media to enhance the student learning experience.• Direct external vendors as they develop training or performance improvement materials.• Create detailed project planning and timelines for the development of online courses, including review checkpoints, delivery of course milestones, and quality assurance reviews.• Work with WCC Marketing to build complimentary training sessions to attract students and customers.• Use HTML coding, branding, and template designs to create a consistent and engaging student experience.• Build interactive content using authoring tools, mapping, HTML coded interactives, community building tools and/or other applications.• Develop engaging videos and/or graphics using productivity software such as Articulate 360 and other engaging software or academic tools.• strategies, student engagement, and optimization of the learning management systems for online instruction.• Demonstrate strong knowledge of W3C standards, Section 508, accessibility, and equity standards through innovative ideas and practices to enhance design.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Bachelor's degree in instructional design or related area including, but not limited to, instructional and educational technology.• The equivalent of three (3) years' full-time experience designing and creating online and blended instructional materials/content in higher education.• Experience in developing training that utilizes modern solution methodologies - scenario-based training, action mapping, micro learning, and mobile solutions. Experience with Mobile Learning and in Corporate Training environment preferred.• Strong skills with MS Windows, MS Office, SharePoint, and Webex• Strong skills with Camtasia, Captivate, Articulate 360, and Lectora• Experience with SABA, SCORM compliant shells, HTML• Able to design and develop web-based courses and meet project constraints• Adobe graphic applications - Effective communications skills• Strong customer relationship skills

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$69,542 - $76,496

Salary Comments:
Current Washtenaw Community College Employees Salary is determined by BOT Policy 5005*An Administrative Group employee whose job has been reclassified or who is promoted to a new position shall have his/her salary set at the new salary range minimum or at 10% above current salary, whichever is greater. Starting rate/salary is determined based on education and work history listed on application.
