TITLE: Corporate Communications Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: The Corporate Communications Specialist creates and maintains proactive, strategic, integrated communicationsboth internal and externalto build awareness, drive engagement and strengthen Arivo's corporate brand. This individual will be responsible for creating content and messaging the company, employees, and other industry stakeholders. Collaboration with staff members at various levels in the organization is required to gather content/messaging about products, solutions, services, events and announcements. Content is primarily written communications designed to inform, explain, interest, promote, advise or persuade, depending on project or campaign objectives. In collaboration with other stakeholders, the Corporate Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and creation of a broad range of communications, including (but not limited to):

  • E-newsletters to dealerships, customers, and employees

  • Marketing collateral, e-mail messages, social media content, and engaging copy for digital and print ads

  • Standalone communications as required to targeted audiences.

  • Content related to the company and its products for publication on the company's internal and external web sites and distribution.

  • Thought leadership content for company blogs, social media channels and trade publications; articles by executives and subject matter experts for placement in trade publications; case studies and white papers

  • Communications and scripts for Arivo executives


  • Ensure communications meet quality standards while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Assist leadership in the collection and presentation of performance metrics that reflect the Corporate Communications department's productivity and output.

  • Work with IT team members and Marketing web developers to ensure functionality and accuracy of online content, email templates and new applications.

  • Work closely and professionally with clients and subject matter experts, demonstrating interpersonal skills and commitment to completing projects according to mutually agreed upon deadlines.

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry news and trends, Arivo products, solutions and services, as well as the company's strategic initiatives.

  • Provide coverage for emergency communications if/as needed outside of normal business hour, including business disruption events and/or other crises.

  • Communicate effectively with clients as well as team members in verbal and written formats; deliver presentations as needed.

  • Exercise initiative, discretion, follow-through, and independent judgment. Provide editorial feedback on the work of other team members to ensure quality control.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience writing in a professional business-to-business environment; experience in financial services preferred

  • Exceptional writing ability

  • Ability to distill complex topics into compelling, easily consumable content

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats and give presentations utilizing various audiovisual support aids

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work in fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines

  • Capability to think creatively to develop compelling and engaging content for assignments

  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and quantitative skills

  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in decision-making

  • Ability to periodically support crisis communications outside of normal business hours

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to be flexible and work under pressure in a complex environment

This site is home to the company's Infusion Therapy business headquarters, which includes large manufacturing operations that produce intravenous (IV) catheters, blood collection devices and surgical products. The mission of Corporate Communication is to engage associates as active ambassadors of the brand by strengthening their understanding of BD's vision, strategy and goals – and where they fit in contributing to BD's success. In this role, you will report directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communication while operationally being aligned with the Sandy Plant Leadership Team. You'll have responsibility for coordinating and executing strategic communications plans in support of the Sandy plant goals to inform, connect and engage the more than 1,200 associates who work here. You'll also have an opportunity to actively develop and implement internal communication such as content, messaging, channel selection and overall look and feel in print and digital mediums for the below active initiatives associated with: * BD Sandy plant vision, operational goals and production system * BD Sandy associate engagement plans and progress * BD Utah inclusion and diversity groups and activities Who we're looking for A go-getter with a passion to grow in the communication field, who's willing to learn and take initiative, who's hungry to make a meaningful contribution right out of the gate and who's able to create new ways to engage associates from the ground up – and then deliver on them. Primary Responsibilities * Support the development and management of an internal communication strategy. * Work as partner to the Sandy Plant Leadership Team, along with business and functional leadership, to develop strategies and tools to consolidate and cascade messages to site associates and the broader organization. * Identify new methods for communicating with associates, leveraging internal communication channels and social media with innovation and creativity, and execute tactics for delivering key messages and information to internal audiences. * Research, write, edit and publish content for communication vehicles including: Sandy intranet site, Sandy Operations Town Halls, video scripts, emails, presentations and other communication vehicles. * Help to establish, maintain and govern an internal calendar of communications, events and announcements for BD Utah (Salt Lake City & Sandy Locations). * Assist in the development of a process for measuring and managing our communication channels to ensure the tools are timely, relevant and effective for populations that do not have access to a computer/email regularly. * Participate in the planning and execution of small and large-scale events. Examples include but are not limited to: "Safety Weeks," Annual Health Fairs, Summer and Winter Celebrations and Service Anniversary Recognition Events. Minimum qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or equivalent. * At least 2+ years related professional experience or 2 years minimum internship setting. * Highly polished writing and editing skills, strong presentation and verbal communication skills - generated through critical attention to detail. * Must submit at least three writing samples with resume. * High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). * Working knowledge of graphics tools (Photoshop) and collaboration platforms (SharePoint); graphic design experience a plus. * Medical device or healthcare industry experience preferred.
