As a member of Blue Shield's Corporate Citizenship's team, the Corporate Citizenship Coordinator will assist in the company's efforts to become a model for being a socially responsible health insurer. These efforts include employee volunteerism, community involvement, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement. Based in Oakland, CA, the Corporate Citizenship Coordinator will report to the Director of Social Impact. He/she will operate cross-functionally with many different departments within the company, most frequently with colleagues in External Affairs, Internal Communications, Human Resources, Brand and the Blue Shield of California Foundation. In addition, this position will coordinate with a number of community organizations who are seeking sponsorship or volunteer service.
Volunteer and Giving Administration: Serve as a resource for employee volunteerism, giving and community involvement, supporting the company's desire to be a great place to work. Assist in execution of companywide campaign(s) each year. Support team and business unit efforts to integrate volunteer service into their team building activities. Additionally, support the company's commitment to provide all employees with volunteer opportunities, community service time and matching gift options and support engagement with an employee environmental sustainability initiative. Activities include communications, answering questions from employees and their managers and helping administer the technology within Blue Shield's system.
Corporate Giving: Assist in the administration of the company's corporate giving guidelines, scorecard and processes to evaluate company charitable contributions and sponsorships. Administer sponsorships including communicating with organizations, completing ads and filling tables.
Prepare monthly giving report materials and communicate internally about opportunities.
BlueSky Initiative Administration: Assist in the execution of events for our statewide signature program focused on developing resilience and emotional well-being in youth.
Employee Engagement and Communications: Help coordinate external citizenship communications and assist with internal communications about webinars or other events.
Nonprofit Database Administration: Enter data and maintain a list of volunteers and BlueSky initiative contacts. Coordinate employee tracking of engagement on nonprofit boards.
Environmental Sustainability: Assist with research, data gathering and entry.
Possesses a bachelor's degree with at least 2-3 years of relevant cross-functional, cross disciplinary experience or an equivalent of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with project coordination preferably in a corporate or philanthropic setting.
Communicates a strong personal belief that citizenship can make a difference for the company and society.
