Brief Overview of Position

A Corporate Banking Associate will have 3 to 5 years of corporate banking experience, ideally within the Energy sector, and help drive Texas Capital's financial results by supporting Senior Coverage Bankers in their efforts to identify opportunities and deepen relationships. Corporate banking focuses primarily on the origination and structuring of secured corporate loans, including cash flow and reserve based loans (RBLs), and the syndication thereof with Texas Capital in an Admin Agent role. Corporate Banking is responsible for delivering Texas Capital's extensive Treasury Management platform and risk management products and services. Corporate Banking relationships help to deliver the Bank's full range of services relevant to their financing and strategic development including advice on Institutional Term Loan Bs, Private Credit Term Loans, First Out Facilities, First-lien/Second-Lien Facilities, High Yield Bonds, Private Placements, etc.

This role will report to the Energy Team Staffer and will be accountable to deliver best-in-class experiences and comprehensive financial solutions to clients and prospects.

We are seeking qualified candidates with a passion for a long-term career in banking and the following core competencies

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing client presentations and engaging in client and prospect calls in support of Senior Coverage Bankers, with front-line activities comprising ~50% of the Associate's workday.

  • Progressively take on increased responsibilities on live transactions and participating in business development under the guidance of senior group members.

  • Engage with customers as needed to obtain items needed for documentation.

  • Monitor transactions in the pipeline from prospecting phase through closing, both internally and externally.

  • Review and finalize diligence lists and questions prior to meetings.

  • Evaluating and analyzing the financial needs of corporate clients, including performing comprehensive financial statement analysis and the creation and maintenance of financial models, supporting the team in determining advisory and financing solutions for our clients and prospects.

  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing analyst prepared screening memos, underwriting documents, term sheets and return models to streamline the credit approval process.

  • Provide underwriting bandwidth during high growth periods especially on complex transactions.

  • Assist Portfolio Managers with renewals and reviews of existing portfolio.

  • Contribute to the overall success of the team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

  • Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  • Actively contribute to a high performance and inclusive work environment.

  • Assist in recruiting, coaching, and mentoring junior colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in business (Finance, Accounting, Math, Economics, etc.) or other relevant degree.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Banking, Corporate or Investment Banking preferred or other relevant experience.

  • Effective team player with ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Flexible to demands of work and viewed as a valuable team resource.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations and short deadlines.

  • Independent thinker and proven ability to take initiative and make decisions.

  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory.

  • Exceptional writing, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong Analytical skills - critical thinking, data and information analysis, research, and problem solving.

  • Experience collecting, consolidating, and interpreting company and industry data

  • Strong knowledge and application of Credit Underwriting (i.e., cash flow models, financial spreads, and credit packages).

  • Strong knowledge of banking suite of products and services.

  • Strong utilization of Salesforce and MS Office products including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint in order to produce reports, correspondence, and presentations

  • Ability to produce reports, correspondence and presentations using Salesforce and Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Obtain and maintain required FINRA registration and licensing appropriate to your functions and responsibilities.
