Internal Audit's primary mission is to provide assurance to the Board of Directors and Executive Management that BlackRock's businesses are well managed and meeting strategic, operational and risk management objectives. The team engages with senior leaders and all of BlackRock's individual business units globally to understand and advise on the risks in their business, evaluate the effectiveness of key processes and design standard methodologies that can improve their results. Our work builds confidence that BlackRock will meet its obligations to clients, shareholders, employees and other partners.

The team includes professionals with trading, sales, risk management, compliance, technology, finance and operational experience. Internal Audit reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Job Purpose/Background:

The Audit Director is a member of Internal Audit's Global Leadership Team and is expected to contribute significantly to the planning, process innovation, and project management of assurance and advisory activities of the distributed team. Areas of the business within scope for this role span the entire Company.

This role resides within the Business Audit team.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Overall management and/or leading the timely execution of concurrent audits and projects.

  • Business engagement responsibilities with Senior Executives for multiple lines of business and fostering strong relationships with the business.

  • Collaborate with Internal Audit leadership to determine audit coverage and approach for designated businesses.

  • Primary responsibility for AML audit coverage globally, including establishing a consistent audit program to drive efficiencies and operating effectiveness driving.

  • Senior Internal Audit representative in the Atlanta office.

  • Provide controls advisory services to the Company's various businesses.

  • Collaborate with the other corporate risk and control functions to ensure activities are coordinated and fully leveraged.

  • Identify key control issues and emerging risks, and work with management to ensure timely and effective remediation.

  • Provide timely and honest feedback and coaching to staff.

  • Assist in the recruiting and development of a high functioning team that will be a training ground for talent.

  • Effectively manage resources to optimize productivity, meet training and development needs, and deliver high quality, valuable assurance and advisory services.

  • Engagement with relevant regulators, where applicable.

Skills and Experience:

  • Broad exposure/experience to audit, risk management, operations, finance and compliance activities is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of investment management, trading or capital markets businesses, products or processes.

  • Proficient knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) rules and regulations and experience auditing AML Compliance programs. Professional certification preferred (e.g. CAMS)

  • Experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with senior management and external regulators.

  • Excellent project management, organizational and presentation skills.

  • Experience managing teams of skilled professionals and developing junior talent.

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and listening) and interpersonal skills, including strong writing skills, particularly as related to audit reports and management presentations.

  • Good understanding of current regulatory and industry events

  • CFA, CPA/CA, CRM or similar professional certification is a plus.

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, economics, risk management or other business related field is preferred.

The Audit Manager supports the assessment of the Company's risk and control environments within the auditable entities, determine appropriate audit cycles, maintain an effective continuous monitoring program, and make necessary adjustments to the audit plan. The Audit Manager will lead a team of audit professionals and is responsible for managing assigned personnel in accordance with U.S. Bank Human Resources policies and internal audit policies and procedures to achieve audit plan completion. The audit plan includes audits of the bank's digital channels, emerging technologies and innovation projects including Mobile Banking, Online Banking, Open Banking (Application Programming Interface (API)), Artificial Intelligence, and Voice Assistance. The Audit Manager is expected to recruit, hire, and develop assigned staff to ensure audit engagements are completed in conformance with internal audit policies and procedures. Duties 1. Supervising audit staff in the completion of audit engagements, ensuring the highest quality work delivered timely. Supervision includes: * Planning audit engagements. * Assessing work performed by lead auditors. * Performing sufficient reviews to ensure work contains relevant facts to support audit scope and conclusions and adhere to internal audit policies and procedures. * Drafting audit reports which communicate audit opinions and audit issues in a timely, clear and concise manner. * Monitoring progress of audit engagements against plan and schedule and making necessary adjustments. 2. Completing or assisting the audit director in developing the risk-based audit plan. Includes identifying auditable entities and assessing risk within the auditable entities; determining appropriate audit cycles and audit strategy; and determining necessary audit resources and estimated expenses associated with completion of a forward looking 12-18 month audit plan. Also includes performing continuous monitoring activities (working closely with senior management and risk management) and adjusting the audit plan when appropriate. 3. Preparing and reviewing board, committee, and other stakeholder reporting for completeness, consistency with other internal audit materials, and accuracy of the most up-to-date information, not limited to information internal audit is reporting. 4. Interacting regularly with business line and risk management leaders, regulators, and external subject matter experts. 5. Collaborating across the three lines of defense regarding business processes, risks, and controls. Coordinating audit activities by integrating other internal audit subject matter teams (Information Technology, Anti-Money Laundering, Compliance, Risk Management, Treasury, etc.) to ensure appropriate and efficient coverage of the business products, services and processes. Managing the team's workload to assist other audit teams when resources are needed for areas of higher risk. 6. Managing, motivating, and developing assigned personnel in accordance with U.S. Bank Human Resources policies and internal audit policies and procedures.
