Based in Los Angeles, the Corporate Archives Specialist is a key role focused on archival research and collection processing in an innovative corporate archives setting. The person in this role will possess a strong background in providing research services and processing complex collections in different formats, including digital and paper-based items. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for history with an eye toward the future, and extensive experience in arranging, describing, preserving and providing access to collections for a variety of users. The candidate will apply knowledge in archival authorities to create robust metadata records for new acquisitions and legacy materials in the unique collections of the Capital Group Corporate Archives.
Processes collections, including documents, audiovisual materials and born digital content
Provides reference and detailed research for internal requests, oral histories and special projects
Tracks and records statistics for acquisitions and research queries
Creates and maintains metadata records for digital and physical assets
Manages vault and inventory control adhering to archival best practices
Engages in outreach activities, from acquisition development to site tours and external exhibits
5+ years of progressive experience in an archives or special collections setting
Experience with handling, accessioning and processing fragile materials and born digital content
Deep commitment to service in a reference or research setting
Familiarity with managing collections with intricate access restrictions and compliance requirements
Experience with digital asset management systems and metadata creation for archival items including documents, photographs, news articles, objects, audiovisual materials and digital assets in different file formats
Knowledge and application of archival standards (including DACS, Dublin Core, LCSH, TGN, PBCore)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member and across organizational boundaries in an evolving environment
Flexibility to balance a range of projects with detail, efficiency and accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Master's degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent; specialization in Archives highly desired
