Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monthly Close of Corporate General Ledgers (75%)

  • Manage the monthly close of eight (8) Corporate general ledgers.

  • Coordinate the review and approval of Corporate journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Review Corporate balance sheet and income statement analytics for reasonableness.

  • Comply with the SOX 404 controls applicable to the monthly close process by ensuring proper documentation is maintained.

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of external financial audits and interim reviews.

  • Interface effectively with numerous individuals both internally and externally, including the external auditors, to address and resolve accounting issues.

  • Assist in the preparation of internal management presentations for members of the Executive Leadership Team.

  • Other Responsibilities and Projects (20%)

  • Work with FP&A to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the Corporate budget/forecasts.

  • Maintain a solid understanding of all aspects of the business and the related impact on the Company's accounting and internal control systems, procedures, and processes.

  • Assist with financial statement close process initiatives and other transformation projects.

  • Assist with drafting Corporate policies and enhancing Corporate procedures.

  • Quality Leadership and Business Process Optimization (5%)

  • Assist in the implementation and shaping of Coherent Corp.'s quality initiatives.

  • Assist in the identification of potential enhancements, analysis of solutions, and execution of improvements.

Education & Experience

  • B.S. or B.A. in Accounting / Finance

  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of related accounting experience comprised of:

  • Four (4) to five (5) years in public accounting combined with

  • Four (4) to five (5) years in a corporate headquarters accounting environment of a large fast-past, multi-location, multi-national publicly-traded company

Skills

  • CPA required

  • Experience with SAP and/or Oracle preferred

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and solve complex problems

  • Ability to embrace and utilize technology to drive efficiencies

  • Strong electronic spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel) skills with ability to fully utilize data mining and analysis tools such as pivot table, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF statements, etc.

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

  • Leadership and the ability to work highly independently with minimal guidance from supervisor on specific tasks

  • Experience with an automated consolidation financial system such as Hyperion Financial Management preferred

Working Conditions

Working conditions typical of a climate controlled and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers. Currently a hybrid model, with three (3) days per week in the office is preferred.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.

Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
