Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock AMRS Finance consists of Finance professionals in disciplines such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Taxation and Controllers. Within the Controllers' Group, the Latin America Corporate Accounting team has responsibility for Accounting, Legal Entity Control & Tax Compliance.

Job Purpose/Background:

BlackRock's Latin America Corporate Accounting group is fast growing and is responsible for the Accounting & Tax reporting & compliance of approximately 20 legal entities spanning across six countries. A successful candidate in this role will be responsible for the financial reporting & tax compliance of legal entities for specific countries in LatAm. The candidate will perform general corporate accounting functions and will also be responsible for special projects related to the legal entities in LatAm. This role is a supervisory one and will be responsible for the training and development of analyst(s).

Reports to: Vice President - LatAm Controllers

Supervises: Analyst(s)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include financial accounting, tax & regulatory reporting including monthly closing of Local GAAP books (IFRS & or Mexican GAAP) as well as US GAAP books, performing analysis and reconciliations between the 2 sets of books

  • Assists in month-end close activities for US GAAP and Local GAAP; including review and analysis of income statement and balance sheet accounts

  • Reviews and prepares monthly reconciliations of certain BS accounts

  • Extensive co-ordination with outsourced local accountants and tax consultants to ensure compliance with local regulations.

  • Prepares interim and annual board of directors materials

  • Prepares interim and annual Financial Statements under local GAAP

  • Coordinates and manages local audits (interacts with local audit managers and partners directly)

  • Responsible for the training and development of analyst(s)

  • Coordination with departments within Finance including Corporate Tax, Revenue Accounting, Compensation Accounting, Treasury Accounting (investment accounting), Accounts Payable, External Reporting, Accounting Policy and Financial Planning & Analysis group. In addition, extensive collaboration with departments outside of Finance such as Legal & Compliance, Human Resources, Payroll, Information & Technology and Business Operations (including various teams in local Mexico office)

  • Special projects as they occur

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of accounting & auditing experience

Skills/Qualifications:

  • CPA or equivalent is preferred

  • Excellent excel & analytical skills

  • Public speaking skills a plus

Position Requirements:

  • Fluency (written & oral) in Spanish is a must

  • Big 4 experience

This covers ION's broad range of contractual relationships, including real estate, vendors, hardware, software and service providers. Responsibilities * Drafting and negotiation of contracts, including tower leases, studio leases, license agreements, service agreements, and purchase agreements * Oversee required real estate due diligence, ensuring timely closings on all transactions * Partner with ION station operations and ION executive management personnel on negotiations with landowners and facility owners * Provide legal analysis and guidance to other functional groups regarding station operations * Provide detailed analysis and guidance to litigation appropriate departments on any matters that result from disputes regarding tower and real estate leases or other licenses and agreements * Analyze proposed legislation, regulation or interpretation of law that affects ION station operations Qualifications * Juris Doctorate Degree with license to practice law in any state required * Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience required; real estate law or commercial transactions strongly preferred; tower or broadcast industry preferred but not required * Demonstrated understanding of current law and policy as it relates to telecommunications and real estate law * Understanding of transactional law and licensing in telecom/broadcast leasing context * Ability to utilize knowledge of the business, economic conditions, and current regulations to successfully negotiate terms and contracts * Solid attention to detail in the preparation and review of contracts and agreements with excellent legal drafting skills * Strong written and oral communication skills across a broad spectrum of attorney and non-attorney recipients * Ability to effectively manage priorities for self and team to meet business requirements and deadlines in a high volume, time-sensitive environment * An independent worker, as well as collaborate with others to utilize resources and knowledge of others in identifying quality solutions * Good strategic and problem solving skills to effectively influence decision making in key negotiations * Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite ION Media Networks New York NY
