Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Legal Liaison to Corporate Insurance & Risk Management and Reinsurance Departments: The role of liaison is an integral function for the notification and periodic reporting to professional liability insurers and reinsurers with respect to the onset of lawsuits and significant developments in order to protect Travelers potential for recovery.
This function includes: Comprehension of insurance programs affording coverage to Travelers (runoff and current) in order to direct claims to appropriate insurer(s) and adhere to the reporting requirements contained within the policies (i.e. when to prepare bordereaus,
individual claim notices, etc.).
Review of various reports, including the trial and class action reports, significant litigation report, the Bond extra-contractual report, and various ad hoc reports to ensure proper reporting to insurers of claims and litigation. Communication with Travelers in-house lawyers concerning the reporting of various matters that may implicate coverage under Travelers' insurance programs Prepare bi-monthly report of lawsuits for the Reinsurance Department which includes pertinent case information needed for submission of claims to Travelers' reinsurers.
Assist with responding to requests from the Reinsurance Department, Risk Management and insurers that afford coverage to Travelers for closed or pending claim information relating to bordereaus and individual notices. Assisting with audits (internal and external) when required.
All of the above tasks require utilization of the matter management and claim systems within the organization and working with IT personnel supporting Corporate Legal Services. Regular interaction with Travelers Risk Manager regarding all of the above. Monthly Trial Notebook:
Coordinate compilation of Trial Report Notebook containing trial reports from each legal and claim area. Identify extra contractual matters set for trial and advise in-house lawyers regarding the need for reporting these matters under Travelers programs of insurance and/or reinsurance treaties; prepare draft trial notice for lawyers. Quarterly Bond Extra-Contractual Review:
Communicate with lawyers and claim managers upon review of Bond's extra contractual case list; draft notices for matters identified as meeting the threshold requirement for reporting to applicable insurance program. Quarterly Class Actions Report: Contact in-house lawyers for new class actions and status on pending matters and prepare report of these matters for the Legal Services Management Team.
Prepare separate class, mass, multi-claimant and multi-district litigation report for Corporate Insurance Risk Management in compliance with applicable reporting requirements. Monthly Maryland Insurance Administration Report:
Identify Maryland first party bad faith lawsuits using established litigation tracking procedure. Communicate with in-house lawyers managing these lawsuits to ensure timely reporting to MIA. Bi-monthly Cross Indemnification between Citigroup and TPC Report:
Track litigation tender letters to and from Citigroup pursuant to the Intercompany Agreement (letters predominately relate to tender of environmental lawsuits). Prepare/update spreadsheet of lawsuits. Non-suit Service of Process:
Review and distribute non-suit service of process documents (i.e. subpoenas, authorizations, writs of execution, garnishments, levies, requests for information from courts or governmental agencies). Assist paralegals conducting the research and routing of these documents to the appropriate legal or business unit for response as needed. Accept service of documents from process servers as appropriate. Respond to calls regarding how to serve Travelers and inquiries concerning the status of Travelers response to non-suit service of process documents.
Provide back-up to manager and members of the Service of Process Unit. This role does not manage others.

The Corporate Legal & Risk Management Analyst assists and supports Legal and Corporate Insurance Risk Management professional staff in the delivery of legal and risk management services.
Please note: This position's preferred location is Hartford, but a candidate in a different location would be considered under the right circumstances.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
